Water
By Tom Stanley

Water; flowing clear,
Like nectar from fruit,
Perfect, subtle and powerful,
In torrents and trickles,
Yet still bubbling, laughing at us.
Polluted or clean;
Never ending, nature's energy incarnate,
Always surrounding us, a mist,
Dancing like faeries, an exultation
Of vibrance and life.
Beautiful; cold and crystalline,
Light reflected, refracted,
A gleaming twinkle, icy
Slow moving glaciers,
Snow flakes melting on your face.
Soothing; warmth and relief, release,
From a kettle or spring,
A summer brook, babbling,
Incoherent, rambling stream,
Running on into infinity.
