The Twilight of Me
By
Tom Stanley

Your promises are gone now,
And all that is left are lies.
Everything you gave has turned,
To dust and blown away.
The refreshing breeze, erasing my pain,
Taking my sorrows, with zephyrous grace.
My self-imposed torment is no longer.
I will now live to be stronger,
Stronger than the evils of the world,
The world inside my head, yet to unfold, yet to be unfurled;
Like a flag, proud and true,
Proud and true, even in the twilight,
The twilight of me.
