Reflections On A Sunset
By Tom Stanley

The sky is darkening;
Sunset, so brilliant,
Collapsing beyond, behind the horizon,
Tendrils of light, tinged edges,
Orange, red and pink, a splash
Upon incandescing clouds.
Radiance surpassing beauty, streaked like tears,
Reflecting off river and sea,
Surfing the waves, rippling, riding the breeze,
Glistening; burning like fire high in the cyan realm,
The candle that lights our way,
To the gates of eternity.
Heaven raining down, rays of sunlight,
Fading into the night, drifting into oblivion,
Falling beyond, below the horizon,
Settling into its slumber amongst the stars,
Giving way to the moon, tied by fate,
In their dance of light, of life.
