Season
By

Amazing how quickly a year will pass--in time’s time, in that year, only a few seconds had been cast.

In the world we live, we cherish, we give.
It’s all we can do…so simple, to live.
In the world we work for hope, trial, and strive.
It’s all we can do…to give thanks that we’re alive.

A season comes by, how quickly the last one left.
Spring arrives now, the leaves flying deft.
Plants grow and flourish, sparkling with life.
Trees sprout or grow taller, piercing the sky like a wooden knife.
The wind blows briskly, the rain is light.
The mist in the air adds a mystifying veil to the sight.
Mountains reach to the heavens, stabbing the clouds.
Causing them to cry, releasing azure tears from their vapory shrouds.

Summer comes next, the sun is clearly out.
Rays explore every crack and crevice of the darkness, exploiting all to the solar intensity.
Warmth spreads upon everything, causing some to rise and others to wither.
To the sun I say, come here, come hither.
It obeys me…and yet still I shiver.
With golden eyes I look to the future, leaving the past behind.
At my back lies my regrets, as well as my fondest memories.
Soon they will be shone upon as well, to something I can remember and look at with warmth.
At my front lays a vista, but this sun is setting, my choices made for today.
And I move on to fall.

I drop down through a mélange of brown and red, finding myself in another season.
The sun has changed much--now much more amber and tranquil--and with much reason.
The ground is dampened with moist stumps who had met their end long ago, the leaves their shroud.
I look up and can only see a huge hoary figure, but it is only one tremendous cloud.
The trees shed their amber fans, which are blown away by a brisk wind.
Soon the last colors will fade, and all covered by a blanket of white.

Winter is here, the last season of the year.
Snow covers everything, blessing all with the beautiful cold.
This has been my story, and it has all been told.
I look at the horizon, and can barely see
The truth that was right there, it was the same, and truly me.
Only now I know this truth, but I have so much time to give it all.
For the seasons keep repeating, and I can keep walking, down time’s hall.
