GTA: Liberty City Stories, is GTA's first foray into the PSP genre, and the first GOOD portable GTA game. GTA is already a wildly popular series on the home consoles, and why wouldn't it be? It's a great series. Liberty City Stories continues this trend of truly enjoyable games.

I'm a bit hazy on the story of this particular game: You're Tony Caprini in liberty series, trying to get your mob into control of the city... yadda yadda yadda. not very enthralling, but who cares? If you're into this for the story, maybe you should reconsider. Anyway, in terms of the features that were added as the games advanced (body building, motor cycles, boats, etc.), this one is mostly vice city leveled in features. there are motorcycles and boats (although the appearance of boats are rare), but aside from NPC police helicopters, no helicopters. There are about 15 different guns, 10 or so of which you can purchase in the stores. In terms of area, there are 3 medium size islands, each of which is accessible in a few different ways: going over bridge, going by subway, ferry, and, I suppose if you can find one, boat. Changing islands results in a small load time, one of the very few in the game. in fact, only going in and out of the ammunition/hideout will cause a load, that I know of.

The game is also very long: Doing all the missions gets you about 45 percent through. there's the vigilante, paramedic, and classic taxi missions to do, along with some great new ones, such as trashmaster, avenging angel (vigilante kind of thing) and (my favorite) car/bike salesman. By the way, some of these missions will get you to own the property they are done on, such as bike salesman after a certain number of sales. there are also, of course, hidden packages, that are well hidden throughout the 3 isles. The graphics are amazing: I believe the PSP has finally been brought to true justice. The controls are great, especially if you've played a PS2 GTA before. Truly a great game.

However, there are a few complaints: Like I've said, it's vice city feature level. Perhaps including some San Andreas features would have increased load time ,but it would have been nice to get more open boat use or maybe a helicopter or two. also, there are some features, like the car trader (where you bring cars to a company and they give you a cash payment) are not marked at all, leaving you to search all the items trying to find "love media". all gripes aside, this is still a solid sandbox-style game that will keep you entertained for weeks. Recommendable to anyone.9/10
