Senshi Gundam Wing: Endless Duel
You know when you ask random people about a fighting game how 80% of the
people are gonna say street fighter and the other 20% are gonna say
killer instinct or mortal kombat. Well this being a more
under-rated fighter i think needs a bit more recognizing. Since
back 9 or 10 years ago when gundam wing fist came out this was alot more
played but now in the 2000's its popularity has somewhat died. It's a
great fighter with immensely customizable combo's as there is no preset
combos and 10 nicely made units to pick. One of the better
fighters for the super nintendo system though it was only released in
japan your mostlikly using the miracle of an emulator to play it.
As with most fighters it does not have much of a plot but its overall
worth playing in Japanese or English.
storyline basics 04/10
As with most fighters of the earlier generation consoles there was not
much of a plot included in the game. You select a character and
move from stage to stage fighting one oponent at a time like in most
fighters. The battle's get increasingly harder because the
reaction times of the CPU's gets higher as you move on through the 3
available difficulties. Though there is not much to the story of
the fighting game the difficulty determines what kind of ending you get
easy, normal or hard.
Game play 10/10
If you like 1 vs 1 fighters like mortal kombat, killer instinct or
street fighter this game is worth a play. You can select from 1 of
9 characters in story mode and 1 of 10 characters in vs or trial modes.
the basics of its game play are consisting of the fights which are fast
paced and require some skillful timing on the combos and chains that you
can do. Unlike killer instinct this game has free base combos with
no damage scaling so you know how much a combo can do. Unlike
other fighting games some of the characters in GW:ED have armor.
Some units will be able to take alot more than others so consider your
strategies when fighting/selecting a character. All together when
the graphics sounds music and action come together you can see that this
is a great fighter.
Graphics 09/10
This game is a seizure waiting to happened 90% of the graphics flash at
some point. I personally think that how it flashes adds to the
apearence of the combos skills and atacks that you will use as well as
the menu. The sprites used by the game are beautifully done and
put together well. the game uses the same backgrounds with each of
its stages one for each and IMO they are very well done for being on the
snes. The opening theme alone is worth a rating for graphics its
worth watching through at least once as it is very well done, the music
from the opening is Rhythm Emotion the second opening used by the show.
Sound 09/10
In a fighting game music has to match the environment it is in the music
for this game is of no ecception. While not being as well done for
the quality of the music compared to killer instinct it is very good for
the types of battles it is used in. The music is fast paced and
well done for each stage the best of which would be IMO from the arctic
stage and the scrap yard stage. The sound effects are well done
and very suited to how thier used in this game.
Would you replay it? 10/10
I've played thru killer instinct 10 times mortal kombats too various to
count this game i have played thru more than any other fighter.
When you first start the battles get too hard too fast if you don't know
what you are doing but if you have experience it is fun to replay the
game. when music graphics and GIANT FIGHTING ROBOTS get thrown
into a pot and cooked for 10 min this is the result a very well done
fighter. the final boss is fun to play against at any level and
the battle system is very good for its time the music goes well with
each battle and there is no preset combos so your free to customize your
stratagy. I value its replay value very high for a fighter because
of how it is done and the speed of the battles.
Overall 09/10
The true value of this game is in its VS mode as with emulators you can
play online via kaillera or zbattle.net. its game play is well
done and its sound is perfect for how it is used. its fast paced
but who needs a story in a fighter anyway? If the story was needed
it wouldn't have been released as an anime-to-game fighter.
Like a good fighter try this game.
Like a good battle play the pro's online.
Like GIANT FIGHTING ROBOTS WITH GUNS IN THEIR HEADS try this.
Ever watched/read gundam wing, try this for sure.
Well what can i say other than this by far the best gundam series game
released on the snes and one of the best fighters if not the best for
the snes! |
