This has to be one of the best video games of all time.

You start off as a spiky haired kid who eventually gets caught up in an amazing series of events. You get to name any character that joins you, a plus usually. The game also has many different endings, and plenty of sidequests. Chrono Trigger also features a variety of Techs, or special moves requiring MP, or magic power. Once your Mp's depleted, the character is unable to use Techs. However, this can be restored by inns, random healing places, shelters, or ethers. When you have MP, and learn a specific Tech, and another character learns a specific Tech, they can combine to perform a Dual Tech, such a Cross Slash, or Slurp Kiss. When three people are in the party and learn specific techs, viola, a Triple Tech is formed. Triple Techs consist of much healing or offensive damage. However, once one character is not able to perform their specific move inlaid with the Triple Tech, the Triple Tech cannot be used, so the game resides on you, the strategist to think out your battle plans.

These aren't the only things Chrono Trigger consists of. Let's take the graphics into play. Lord, the graphics. They are intense for an SNES game, the designers putting time and talent into them. Spells like Luminare, And Dark Eternal, another powerful Triple Tech, look great on the screen. Some things even look three-dimensional, competing with some of Gamecube's graphics, even, on extreme circumstances.

There is also a multiple arsenal of replayness in this game. After you beat it, you can start a New Game +, the game, except where data from a selected file is transferred into the start of your new game. The side quests people find, and the hidden chests found, the replay value in this is far superior to some games I've seen.

Now, no game can be a game without music. Chrono Trigger has allot of soundtracks, fitting perfectly into the scene as the game develops. Sadness, happiness, anger, all these are put into their own unique place to fit the game perfectly. Zeal music and the Middle Ages music, those are truly some magnificent themes.

Heyheyhey, let's not forget the characters. The characters are all very usable and not stupid, like random characters thrown into a game just for kicks. The character profile lets you equip a multitude of acquired weapons armor, helms, and accessories, letting you see what stats they may bring you. The picture of the character is anime, not moving, however. The characters in this game know specific Techs to help you out, and they all have their own storyline, the own life to tell and be explained though the game. There's Crono, the main character of your story. There's Marle, the princess of Gaurdia who resents her title. Lucca, the smart intelligent girl who is Crono's best friend. Frog is actually a human transformed, and his best friend was killed by a person who is able to join your party. Ayla, the cavewoman with a tail whose strength rivals and even smothers Crono's. Robo, the humanoid machine with feelings. And lastly, there's Magus, the mysterious mage, and also the murderer of Cyrus, Glenn, of Frog's, best friend. The characters all interact with each other and show feelings and actions that effect the story.

Rating 10/10, though it should be 908,600,743,707,503 out of 10. Hehe. But, seriously, Chrono Trigger is one of the best RPGs I've ever seen. It's truly a masterpiece. So, please, next time you see it, anywhere, get it.

Chrono Trigger, for SNES.
