Brave Fencer Musashi is an RPG released on the PS1 by Squaresoft, one of the best companies to ever come into existence. This, being one of their good but
underrated games, made me decide to write up a review on it.
Graphics 7/10
Pretty good for a PS1, although at sometimes it got a bit sloppy and the camera angles could get a little tight at times. But all in all, it ran smoothly and seemed to be average compared to the other Square releases.
Sound 8/10
Music on this game was very catchy and went along with the game entirely well. I never seemed to have a spot (with a few exceptions) when the music ever seemed to get dull or maybe a little boring. The sounds were also very well done and didn't sound bad or at anytime out of place.
Gameplay 9/10
This is where this game really excelled in my opinion (as Squaresoft did with most their games). It was quite a fun experience and even seemed a little childish at times, but trust me, this is no
child's game. There are some parts in the game I had to go through 3-5 times before I could complete it right. It's quite a good challenge and even has some humor thrown into it from time to time. Sometimes the villagers of Allucaneat (< catch the pun?) will even ask you to get some things for them. Oh, and did I mention the collectible action figures? Complete with 2 action moves! :p.
Controls 10/10
I never had any problems with the controls on this game. I could always do what I needed to do cause it was such a breeze to move, jump, and whatever else you had to do.
Replayability 8/10
Very fun game, quite replayable, I still play it over and over from time to time. It seems to have that thing that lots of games need that make you think "Man, that was one good game, I think I'll play it again."
Great game to buy or rent, but if you rent it, you better be ready to play a lot, cause this isn't a game beat easily.
Overall 8/10
Not the greatest game in the world, but hey, I enjoyed it and I must say that it was a fun game
:p |
