Summary:

Although the quality of the game was good, it just want enough to get me hooked on it. Sonic has always been there since the beginning, but thats just not enough to pull this game out. There was too much emphasis on the graphics and sound that not enough went into the gameplay. There are some good things though. Mini games and many unlockables will keep you entertained. All in all, this is a game that gets a general score, due to its style of play.

Graphics 9/10

The graphics in the series have gotten a complete overhaul and they are just awsome. Although the character designs havent been upgraded all that much from the current gen systems, the level designs and the scenery is just about flawless. The animation is also very smooth with only 1 slowdown for me, that was probably due to a scratch but oh well. With the NG systems focusing on real-life scenery, this surely brings back the classic.

Music 5/10

The music is good....for a while. After that it just dawns on you that the music is really lacking any real...musical quality. The beats are fast tempo and up beat which is great for a sonic game, but there is so few of a selection that soon you will just want to listen to somthing else. The lyrics are really sloppy at best. If you could make it non-vocal, then maybe I would give it better score, but I cant.

Gameplay/Controls 5/10

The controls were awkwars at best and most of the time, just plain unresponsive in the gaem itself. This may be a bit biased due to im an old-school fan so parden this portion. The controls, providing they worked, would have made this game very enjoyable, despite the other areas of it. But, they just didnt want to work some of the times. The mini game controls however, were just near flawless.

Story 4/10

The story of the game is presented and delivered great in the beginning, but after that it just becomes a blah. On your first run through the game, ytou already know wats going to happen and when. There are very few suprises in the game, and when they do happen, they are not relevant really at all to the story. All in all, sonic team could have done so much better with the initial story and made it fluent through the game.

Multi-Player 10/10

Now for the redeeming part, In a Mario Party minigame sort of way. The multiplayer minigames are just fun all-around. there is a good amount of them, 40 in all, with 8 characters to choose from. The use of the controls just seemed very enjoyable. Most of them are pretty challenging and with a few different modes to play in, there is always somthing to do.

Replay Value ??/10

In all honesty, I can not judge the replay value of this game. There are som many good things and bad things. Along with many different modes to play with, I want to give this a 8/10, but the replay on this particullar game is vcery unstable.

Overall 6/10

Like I said before, this is one of the hardest game reviews I have ever written. The opinion about this game could go anywhere north or south of mine.

Rent or Buy?

I suggest renting this game at first, to see if it appeals to the type of gamer you are. Afterwards, you can either erase it off of your Wii, or you can go purchase it. The choice is yours.
