This is the story of the adventures of the Nerologic Hunter's
Guild. This guild went through many trials and tasks to become what it is today.
That is, the most famous Guild that spans the lands of Maple Island, Victoria
Island, and Ossyria Island. It only has a few members, but that's all this Guild
needs. Each member is extremely powerful and unique in their own way, and they
each underwent many tasks and trials in order to create the Guild, to keep it
running, and to gradually become more and more famous.
The fame came with a price though, for with fame and power,
comes jealousy. There were many small Guilds that were jealous of the Nerologic
Guild... and so they began to form their own Guild by joining members into one
big Guild. A Guild against Nerologic. This is the story of the greatest Guild
that there ever was... Nerologic.
Maple Island... the smallest island of the three. This
is where all the new Hunters trained on small monsters alongside other new
Hunters until they were ready to head back to their home of Victoria
Island to become official Hunters by training with expert Hunters. Once
they were official Hunters, they would be able to take on small missions
to help the commonfolk. Once they had advanced enough through fighting
monsters and helping the commonfolk through Hunter missions, they would
recieve further training with the expert Hunters and be promoted to the
second level Hunter. In this level, they can travel to Ossyria and take on
missions there. They can also create a Guild if they want with their
closest friends. After even more experience with Hunter missions and Guild
missions, they are finally promoted to the highest level Hunter, the same
level as the experts that trained them such a long time ago.
Schimmel was just taking the boat to Maple Island, where
he would start his own job as a Hunter. He wondered what skills he would
want to be trained in once he had earned his title as Hunter. He thought
he would become a warrior, trained in two handed sword skills. The time to
think about that was over now as the boat reached the shore of Southperry.
Schimmel almost fell over the side of the plank he was
walking down and into the port city on due to excitement. He regained his
balance as his feet touched the ground. He was in Southperry at last! The
sailor came down the plank behind him without losing his balance any,
obviously having walked up and down it so many times.
"Young Hunter...", the sailor began,
"Your first task is the same as the many before you. Simply travel
the route to the far end of the island and recieve further instructions
from the people there. They will give you some tasks to complete, you will
complete them and return to them, and finally return back here to be taken
back to Victoria. Remember, you're not alone here, and the training may
take several days. So you will also need to know how to set up camp, which
you can learn around here if you don't already know how."
Schimmel listened carefully to the instructions, not
wanting to be fired so quick. He nodded politely as the sailor nodded back
and began another trip back to Victoria. Schimmel turned to see his
surroundings. A small port village with a few people and what seemed to be
an equipment store. People actually lived here on this island. Schimmel
was surprised to see that it was more than just a training ground for
Hunters.
Schimmel walked around the town, exploring a little,
seeing as he had lots of time. He went into the equipment store to get
some better clothes. He decided he would be a warrior with a two handed
sword. He bought a heavy wooden sword which took two hands to use, and
some clothes with leather padding sewn on for some protection. It wasn't
much, and it looked ugly, but it was good enough for him to survive
against the monsters on.
He left through the west exit and quickly saw another
person fighting off some monsters. He was a little shorter than himself,
with dark skin instead of his own light skin. The guy used a short sword
that could be slashed around quickly, but obviously, from the way he used
it, hadn't mastered it all that well yet. Schimmel jumped in against some
monsters next to the guy and tried attacking one. The wooden sword was
unexpectedly heavy, no wonder it was supposed to wielded with two hands.
He stepped back, held it up, ready and held tightly with both hands, and
swung down hard at the monster snail which was just about to spit out
poison at him. It hit the snail and pierced it through, destroying it
immediately. Obviously his sword was slow, but strong.
The guy next to him, up close now looked about his age,
finished off the monsters attacking him. He turned to look at Schimmel,
then held out his hand as a greeting, "Yo, name's J. Call me J Man
for short."
Schimmel was surprised at this sudden introduction,
"Uh, my name's Schimmel, glad to meet you, uh... J Man... isn't that
longer than J? How is it short?"
J Man laughed and said, "C'mon now, don't be cruel.
It may be longer but it still sounds cool."
Schimmel laughed along at his rhyme, realizing he meant
it was a nickname, "Okay then, J Man it is."
"Great." J Man said, "Now we can go hunt
some monsters while we head to the other side of the island... I think
I've been here practicing enough."
"Agreed, I'll practice on the way." Schimmel
said, just now realizing he was still holding his sword and his arm was
getting tired, so he put it back in the sheath.
They went on for a little bit, practicing a little on
some snails and small mushrooms along the way. Schimmel quickly got used
to the weight of his weapon and began to be able to wield it faster. He
grew tired from it quick though. He sat down to rest a few times on the
way, to the annoyance of J Man. He promised to work on his endurance
though. Soon he would be able to wield it fast, accurate and for long
periods of time. For now though, he would have to work on it.
After about 4 hours of travelling the island, the two of
them came along the end of the island at last. They looked down over a
small cliff edge and onto a beach, where they saw some expert hunters
practicing on each other. They seemed to be a bandit and warrior. They
were amazing. The warrior would slash at the bandit, but the bandit would
dodge and counter as the warrior quickly raised his sword to block.
Schimmel and J Man watched the amazing fight as they
went on, neither hitting each other much. The bandit hit the warrior a few
times, and the warrior hit the bandit one time, but not much else. They
were so good that they blocked, countered, got blocked, got countered and
blocked again all really fast. They didn't even seem to get tired after
Schimmel and J Man watched them for another few minutes before the bandit
noticed them.
The bandit said something to the warrior and the warrior
looked up where Schimmel and J Man were watching. They came up the hill
and smiled at the new Hunters-in-training.
The warrior began talking first, "Well well, some
new Hunters I see. Well then, you've come to the right place guys. We're
the ones you're looking for. We'll give you the tasks to complete while
you're here on Maple Island. Feel free to ask any questions at any
time."
J Man spoke up right away, "Is it hard?"
"If you have any skill at all, you should be able
to pass it." the expert bandit answered.
"Well then, I should pass it easy. I'ma go do it
now, what is it?" J Man asked impatiently.
"It is simple enough. There are some job listings
in the city of Amherst to the north-east of here. Simply successfully
complete two jobs that are listed there, report to the person who created
it with the results, then head back here and report to us."
"Great, let's go Schim." J Man said, grabbing
Schimmel's arm and dragging him.
"Schim...?" he laughed as he yanked his arm
loose and walked alongside him.
